Latin Motion

Flash Dance

On Sunday, April 3rd, a mob of Mexican locals, and expats of all ages, shapes and sizes congregated to the weathered red, white and blue nightclub known as Collage www.vallartaparty.com located on Francisco Medina Ascencio.

Even small children were present. I curiously snuck in around 1 p.m. and the crowd had already warmed up and learned the first part of their choreography that was being led by Kim La Rue.

The invitations to participate were sent out about a week prior by Tim Longpré of PVRPV, www.pvrpv.com inviting everyone living in Vallarta to support this effort to shatter news myths and sensationalism reaching international news channels that are affecting our local economy.

Approximately 120 people were present for the first rehearsal as they kicked their feet, and waved their hands to the beat and instruction of the lead dancers in front of them.

The goal is to reach at least 500 people this week and create a viral social media buzz that will hopefully have a reach of great international proportions and help Vallarta gain back their former visitors as well as new ones. Additionally, the campaign is a way of illustrating how many people already live here in Puerto Vallarta- safely and happily.

The end result is going to be a surprise presentation somewhere in PV at some time which will be recorded and uploaded. Remember Oprah’s Flash Mob surprise when the Black Eyed Peas performed? Check it out on YouTube.

The next rehearsal will be this Sunday, April 10th, and another huge turnout is expected. The fun is contagious, the moves are easy to follow, but like everything else, practice makes perfect.

It’s also a great sweat. Many people were heard commenting that they were a bit sore the next day from using muscles that hadn’t been worked for some time.

It is also a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The final flash performance will take place April 17th at a soon-to-be announced location. Ray Dion of http://promovisionpv.com/ snapped some photos of all of the fun.

If you’re interested in being a part of this new, electric, social media campaign, just show up with your friends and a smile this Sunday!
